There are plenty of great myths about the origin of tea and about the many different aspects of tea culture. One of the most famous is the myth about how the tea plant was first discovered by man.

Shen Nung, the Second Divine Emperor of China, was a man with great agricultural and herbal knowledge. One day while he was napping in the forest, a few leaves from a nearby plant blew into his pot of boiling water. When he woke, he drank the mixture and found it to be invigorating and tasty, so he made it his goal to share this plant (now referred to as tea) with everyone he could find by teaching them how to grow the plant in their gardens.
